Born in Queens, NY and raised in New Jersey. Received a BS degree in Business with some graduate school.

Served as an officer in the United State Navy from 1966 until 1970 on the island of Guam. Worked as a civilian DoD employee from 1970 until 1981 in Japan, the Philippines and California.
